#VisitRussia ? Murmansk is Russia’s Arctic wonder, located north of the Arctic Circle. This city, built on the hilly landscape, stretches along the eastern shore of the Kola Bay. Despite its location within the Arctic Circle, it boasts a population of over 300,000 residents, making it one of the most populous cities above the Arctic Circle. One of the main attractions of this region is the spectacular natural phenomenon known as the Northern Lights. These incredible celestial displays of light, also known as Aurora borealis, paint the night sky in hues of green, pink, and purple during the long polar nights from December to January. ️ The main city landmarks include the monument to the Defenders of the Soviet Arctic during the Great Patriotic War, the Museum of the Murmansk Commercial Port, the Nuclear icebreaker “Lenin,“ the Memorial complex “To the sailors who died in peacetime,“ and the Monument “to Waiting Woman“.
