Preparing For Winter - Alaskan, Off Grid, Cabin

Drox and I are back for another weekend in the mountains. We are trying to get as much done as we can before the snows come. We don’t have more than a couple of weeks of summer left before everything turns white. This week we sprayed finish on the side of the cabin (that I sanded a couple of weeks ago) and got a coat on the sauna too. Not too bad for a couple of misfits. The salmon are completely spawned out now. They have turned bright red, and are back in the little creek where they were hatched years ago. These are one of the world’s most amazing fish and it always feels a bit reverent to observe them at this stage of their lives. This week I am headed up the Yukon with my youngest son. I am looking forward to the trip. I will take my camera along and share some of it with you when I return.
