BP Geo History: Istanbul

September 2022. This bridge in Istanbul is quite unique as it contains a metro station. It is not over the Bosporus which is a bit wider, this here is the Golden Horn, the Bosporus is located to the east, to the left side of this picture. On the seven hills in the area to the south a city called Byzantium was founded in the 7th century BCE, then in 330 CE it was first renamed New Rome and then Constantinople, later Stambul and in 1930 it was given its current name Istanbul.
