What a great band this was! I remember listening back to the Corea Gadd Band and right away, I knew they were strongly referring to the Return to Forever days. It was just a well-recorded and well-received album. There are very few drummers that possess what Steve Gadd has. Groove, chops, musicality, brilliant vocabulary, always playing for the form of a song and the musicians around him, a strong sense of space, next-level control, brilliant part writing for songs, and the ability to track this stuff effortlessly in the studio and capture beautiful moments on the drums. For multiples of artists that have spanned over FOUR decades. Not to mention the signature stuff that he created. Often imitated, never duplicated.
