Thailand’s Duangaksorn Chaidee continued her successful return from a doping ban by winning the women’s 87kg weightlifting gold medal at the Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam on Sunday. The 2021 world championship silver medallist in the 87kg category lifted a winning total of 279kg. in 2018, she was given a two-year ban by the International Weightlifting Federation for doping and stripped of her world championships bronze medal. On the final day of weightlifting at the SEA Games, Indonesia added another gold when Muhammad Zul Ilmi won the men’s 89kg title. Zul Ilmi won a with a total of 337kg, edging out silver medallist Anh Bui Tuan of Vietnam’s total of 334kg. The Indonesian victory was sealed when Thailand’s Phachametrithi failed on a final lift of 198kg and settled for bronze.
