The FN P90 is a Belgian submachine gun (personal defense weapon), developed in 1986-1987 by FN Herstal. It was designed primarily for tank crews and drivers of combat vehicles. The 5.7 × 28 mm SS190 round was developed especially for P90, with high penetration and low ricochet. This bullet has a muzzle velocity of up to 715 m/s and is capable of penetrating titanium/kevlar armor vest that meets NATO CRISAT requirements up to 20 meters.
Because of its unusual appearance, it is often used in sci-fi movies and TV series such as: “Doctor Who,“ “The Island,“ and “Stargate: SG-1.“
