How To Flick in One Minute | Fencing Tutorial [Striking Style] (Foil, Epee, Saber)

In celebration of World Fencing Today, we are posting one of our most requested videos: how to flick. Here, Chloe will show us how you can learn the flicking movement in just one minute. Please note this is was her first time learning the movement, and that when you try, don’t freak out if you mess up! Flicking is arguably the most difficult movement in fencing, which is why so many people spend hours of practice trying to get it down. To be honest, we were debating posting this for a while (note my old haircut from a few years ago), as flicks can be such a powerful move. Keep in mind, this video doesn’t tell you WHEN you should flick, or how to use it in a real match, so stay tuned to level-up your fencing knowledge ;) On another note, I have seen many saber fencers strike using the forward-push of the thumb to accelerate their tip, just like the foil flick. If you use a different method to cut, or a different method to flick with a French grip (looking at you, epee people), please let us know how in the comments below! If you found this video interesting or useful, please don’t hesitate to like, subscribe, and consider donating to our Patreon (link below). The more support we gain for these videos, the more time we can spend creating online fencing content, including our full curriculum. We really hope to contribute as much as we can to the global fencing community :) Take care y’all! Patreon:
