Pantera - Cemetery Gates (acoustic cover)

TUTORIAL TAB: ORIGINAL MUSIC: WEBSITE: A heavy metal classic done on the ol’ acoustic geetar. RIP Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul Abbott. Still remember the day I heard the news about Dime’s passing, a heavy blow for sure as I was just discovering Pantera’s music around that time. It’s still some of my favourite heavy music ever. “Cemetery Gates“ was written by Pantera and released in 1990 on their debut album Cowboys From Hell. *** I’m very much aware that many guitar parts and compositional elements of this arrangement are quite different from the original. I’m working from memory and my own internal relationship with the song which results in obvious differences sometimes. I improvise, change notes, section lengths, vocal parts, even lyrics sometimes and I’m not afraid to do that. I’m not learning these parts from tabs or trying to make it exact to the original, I’m interpreting and adapting the arrangement for my own purposes to create something new or to suit my performance. It’s okay if you don’t prefer it. Stating it’s wrong is such a strange concept to me though because music is never wrong. When we think music is wrong we becomes snobs and closed minded which is creatively regressive and ultimately unhelpful. Something to consider.
