Jazzing Along (1926)

Full title reads: “Jazzing along. Striking miners, from many collieries, vie in organising, most striking jazz band“. Glyn Heath, Wales. M/S of all-woman kazoo band marching past terrace houses, they are all dressed as clowns. They are followed by a troop of miners dressed comedy Mexicans in ridiculous sombreros, each appears to have a musical instrument (violins? banjos?) tucked under his arm. Intertitle reads: “Every man in each band is a working collier“. More shots of troops of miners in different types of fancy dress marching past terrace houses. All play paper trumpets or kazoos. Many collieries have gone for racist stereotypes as their fancy dress theme - lots of grass skirts and boot polish. M/S of a traditional colliery brass band marching past terrace houses. M/S of a troop of majorettes and children in fancy dress. Quirky, if not very politically correct. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV.
