Punches and politics: Turkish MPs throw down in session showdown A mass brawl erupted during a special session of the Turkish parliament, called by the opposition following the revocation of MP Can Atalay’s mandate, Turkish channel NTV reported. The scuffle, which lasted about 25 minutes, involved members from both the opposition and the ruling Justice and Development Party, resulting in several serious injuries. Atalay, a human rights activist and member of the Turkish Workers’ Party, was sentenced to 18 years in prison for his role in the 2013 Gezi Park protests in 2022 but was elected to parliament in May 2023. The chaos led to three interruptions, with Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmush stepping in to calm the situation. During breaks, parliamentary staff wiped up traces of blood at the rostrum where the MPs faced off. Boost us! | Subscribe to @geopolitics_live Source: Geopolitics Live
