Hello guys!!!! Do you known what we have today?? We have the 76th birthday of Sir Brian May!!! I wish every good thing for him, because he’s amazing!!!!
I’m going to post this concert because I’m really glad I’ve fixed this concert: before I’ve remastered it, the audio of this concert was annoyingly flat (plus the tape speed starts slowing more towards the end of “We Are The Champions.”). I’ve pitch corrected the entire concert (plus remastered it slightly), so that means you can hear this concert in fairly good audio quality, and nearly complete (the second chorus of “Get Down Make Love“ is missing, plus there are a few cuts for tape flips)!!
This concert is one of my favorites from this leg of the “Game Tour“: The band sound very good at this concert and play very aggressively throughout the set. Freddie’s also sounding pretty strong here, and this is the first concert where he really changes his singing style to more of the “macho voice” that this tour is known for. He tone sounds darker than before, and he’s really starts pushing his voice in an agressive style of songs (especially on the rockers). He’s also embellishing and oversinging more on songs (probably to match his new image). This singing style is very mixed reviewed through the Queen fan-base (while some fans like it, others are not a fan of it). This concert features great performances of “Jailhouse Rock“, the fast “We Will Rock You“, an excellent version of “Play The Game“ (his phrasings and note choices sounds excellent), “Death On Two Legs“ (although the Bb4s are a bit flat), “Get Down Make Love“, “Save Me“, “Keep Yourself Alive“, “Bohemian Rhapsody“ (although the Bb4s aren’t as effortlessly as the previous versions), “We Will Rock You“, and “We Are The Champions“!!

NOTE: This concert features the first (known) performance of “Another One Bites The Dust“. This version is pretty loose with Brian playing the funky guitar line during the first verse (instead of starting it at the second), and Freddie does experimental vocal phrasing throughout: He tries to replicate studio phrasings in spots, sings parts an octave lower, and he messes up lyrics slightly at spots!!
NOTE: There’s an amusing moment during the vocal improv of “Now I’m Here“: Freddie briefly gets angry at the sound man for prematurely turning on the vocal echo during Now I’m Here. “Tell them to turn it off!“ he shouts.
NOTE: Happy birthday Brian!!!!
