Steve Reich - Music for Ensemble and Orchestra (2018) - Lithuanian State Symphony
’Music for Ensemble and Orchestra’ is Steve Reich’s first composition for larger forces since 1987’s ’The Four Sections.’ It is an extension or evolution of his previous ensemble piece, 2016’s ’Runner’ and is the second piece in an unofficial musical triptych which is followed by his 2019 collaboration with the painter Gerhard Richter entitled ’Reich/Richter.’
Performed by the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra conducted by Karolis Variakojis.
Recorded live on October 19th 2019 at the Congress Concert Hall in Vilnius, Lithuania.
