How I Designed this 3D-Printable Kinetic Sculpture | Love at First Swipe

I set out to create a fully 3D Printed sculpture that would represent our expectations of pretty much everything these days (including love). We want it at our fingertips whenever we want it. Thus, the kinetics of the sculpture are powered by a finger swipe. Swipe to the right, and two halves of the heart come together. But as the old saying goes, easy come/easy go. As soon as you release the swiper, the halves return to their original, divided state. This project gave me a run for my money- With a total of 4 rack and pinions, 2 gears, linkages, and slots, this really pushes what’s possible with only 3D printed parts.
