By the mid-1970’s ’The Pirates’ were, without doubt, the most popular act on the club circuit in the UK with their reputation rapidly spreading throughout Europe and Scandinavia. However the band had first emerged in 1959 as a backing group to the late, great Johnny Kidd with whom they enjoyed a total of nine chart singles.
