LYRICS
by Greg Trafidlo
Where did all those folders go?
Mar-A-Lago
That guy and his lackeys know
It‘s all for show
He was playing hide-and-seek
Now he is up a dark brown creek.
When will they be returned?
And when will he ever learn?
Then he ravaged E. Jean Carroll
No compassion
Thought himself so bold and feral
Lower than low
Yes, he messed with E. Jean Carroll
And now she has him o’er a barrel
Even when the courts adjourn
This guy may never learn.
Sorry insurrectionists
No trespassing!
You’ll be dealing with Jack Smith
Thought that you should know
Speaking in the Proud Boy’s code
Their leader told them “Lock and load”
That’s a point of no return.
Now they’ve got ten years to learn
Do you think he’ll go to jail?
I’m just asking
Orange jumpsuit, a cot and pail
Let’s hope it’s so.
He’ll rant and rave, he’ll weep and wail
In the jailhouse without bail
Let’s hope he won’t return
Since he will never learn
ABOUT THE SOURCE MATERIAL
Where Have All the Flowers Gone? was initially written by Pete Seeger in 1955. The additional verses were added in May of 1960 by Joe Hickerson, who turned it into the circular song we know today. Seeger was inspired to write the song in October of 1955 while on a flight and read a passage from his notebook that was taken from a traditional Cossack folk song called “Koloda-Duda,” which Seeger had read bout a couple of years earlier. Anyway, the folk song contained the following lines: “Where are the flowers, the girls have plucked them. Where are the girls, they’ve all taken husbands. Where are the men, they’re all in the army,” which obviously became the inspiration for “Where Have All the Flowers Gone.”
The song appeared on the compilation album Pete Seeger’s Greatest Hits (1967) released by Columbia Records as CS 9416.
